You Can! Yes, you can help stop the stigma
of mental illness and enjoy an evening out in the process. That’s right the
National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI of Genesee County is hosting a
masquerade ball at the Genesis Banquet Center in Grand Blanc on Friday October 9th
from 6:45 until 11pm. This is a fun filled evening to network and share. Dress up and stroll in on our red carpet and have your photo taken.
Mingle over cocktails or soda. Enjoy a strolling dinner, ballroom dancing and a silent auction. NAMI is changing the face of mental illness. And this is your
opportunity to help and have fun at the same time. Did you know that over 75% of
all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 24. Did you know that 20
percent of youth ages 13 to 18 live with a mental health condition. Sadly suicide is the third leading cause
of death in youth ages 10 to 24. 90 percent of those who died by suicide had
an underlying mental illness. You are probably close to somebody who struggles
with mental health issues. NAMI is here to help. Celebrate life with us at our
masquerade ball and learn more about how you can help. Information about NAMI and the many
programs offered to help those touched by mental illness will be available.
